Early Briefing: Accounting Rule Delayed

Federal regulators' concern about the potential impact of a new accounting regulation on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, as well as on lenders to businesses and consumers, has prompted the Financial Accounting Standards Board to postpone any action on the rule by a year. The measure would require financial services companies to raise new capital to help protect against financial exposures not currently reflected on their balance sheets.
