Housing Crisis Hits Its Own

The Mortgage Bankers Association has not been insulated from the real estate finance market downturn, with a decline in membership and a slow leasing market increasing costs associated with the purchase of its new headquarters in Washington, D.C. While the trade group is making sweeping cuts in expenses, MBA Chairman Kieran Quinn, CMB, remains optimistic, expecting the building purchase to provide long-term benefits to the organization; and he expects tenant space to be filled as the economy rebounds.
