The deadline for comments on HUD's proposed revamp of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) is looming. Those wanting to weigh in on the plan--which entails amending and standardizing the Good Faith Estimate form, modifying the HUD-1 Uniform Settlement Statement and clarifying how forms are to be filled out, among other changes--only have until May 13 to do so. HUD suggests that those wanting to comment on the issue submit their remarks electronically by logging on to www.regulations.gov, the federal e-rulemaking portal.
