More than 2,000 families participated in an Aug. 12 homeownership preservation workshop at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., sponsored by the HOPE NOW Alliance, of which the Mortgage Bankers Association is a founding member.
The Homeownership Preservation Workshop, the 17th such event sponsored by HOPE NOW, attracted 2,176 families, with assistance from 20 HOPE NOW participating servicers, including 80 servicer representatives. More than 15 local non-profit counseling organizations, including 50 counselors, participated.
Additionally, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D), House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, D-Mass., Boston Mayor Thomas Menino (D) and other local elected officials attended the workshop and participated in media interviews.
“We want to thank all of the participating Alliance members, many of which stayed busy for nine hours straight,” said Larry Gilmore, CMB, director of the HOPE NOW Alliance. “Everyone worked extremely hard and managed to stay focused on assisting borrowers one by one. Many homeowners left happy they had the opportunity to meet with a counselor and their servicer. Thanks to all participating Alliance members for a job well done.”
The workshop took place in partnership with the Kraft family, owners of the New England Patriots; NeighborWorks America; Fannie Mae; Freddie Mac; and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. Fannie Mae lent support by purchasing and organizing radio announcements. The event received extensive news coverage in the Boston area.
HOPE NOW has three more events scheduled this month and additional events in coming months. For more information, visit www.hopenow.com.
