Mortgage Applications Rebound

Mortgage applications jumped 9.5 percent during the week ended Sept. 5, which some observers attribute to a decline in home loan rates as a result of the government takeover of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Interest on 30-year fixed mortgages settled at 6.06 percent, marking a four-month low, the Mortgage Bankers Association said.
